Mosquito Trapping Updates
Preparing for the Season: Mosquito Surveillance Update
To keep our community safe and informed, the North Morrow Vector Control district will begin its seasonal mosquito surveillance in mid-May. Residents in Boardman and Irrigon will soon see traps placed around the region. These are part of our routine monitoring; we set them in the late afternoon and collect them the next morning to stay ahead of the mosquito activity.
This program helps us monitor populations of Culex mosquitoes—known carriers of West Nile virus. After collection, each trap is carefully speciated, counted, and processed in our lab before samples are sent to the Oregon State Veterinary Lab for virus testing.
This critical work helps us protect public health and stay ahead of any potential risks. We appreciate your cooperation throughout the season.
May thru September the district places mosquito traps at different locations across the district. Check here every week for a trapping updates shown below.
